STYLE EQUATION: FLORALS + BLACK AND WHITE

Mixing different trends, styles, prints, and silhouettes is more than half the fun of fashion. It's all about finding the balance when matching different pieces together while being true to your own personal style. This summer, there's a wide variety of trends for you to experiment with but we find that making the black-and-white trend more summer appropriate might possibly be the most challenging one! Since we love a good fashion challenge and we know you do too, we thought of pairing this summer trend with a classic print—florals! The soft and colorful touch of floral prints can instantly brighten up any black and white ensemble for the summer. Here are five looks that you can use as style inspiration when it comes to sporting this fashion combo:

Preppy. Floral pants were a big trend last season and they're still perfect to wear this summer! Make it the focal point of your look by simply wearing a white button down over it, with matching black and white quilted flats. If you're looking to brighten up this look, layer on a complementary colored tee or go with stacks of colored bracelets.

Feminine. If you're looking to wear this combo in just one piece, go with a black and white floral dress! The floral print will counter the seriousness of the black and white combo. Make your look different by choosing to wear a tee underneath your dress, then pair it with a hat and satchel for those busy summer days.

Grunge. Going for a more laid-back and edgy look? Go with a flowy, floral maxi skirt. Pair this with a black and white top and studded hat for the grunge effect. Finish off your outfit with black combat boots and you've got yourself a summer look that's grunge-inspired.

Effortless. If something simple and chic is more your style, simply wear your floral shorts with a simple, sleeveless, white button down paired with black sandals, and sunnies! This look can take you from daily errands to a fun date look.

Polished. Looking for an outfit that you can wear to that intership interview? A white lace top over this floral, black and white pencil skirt is the perfect look! Add neon accessories for more touches of summer!

STYLE EQUATION: VEST + SHORTS

Keeping cool while looking stylish during the hot summer months can be a challenge for even the most fashionable girl. If you're looking for an outfit that can look chic and beat the heat at the same time, we suggest you try pairing your cool vest, a tank, and your cutest pair of shorts! Not only is this type of layering perfect for the summer, it can also be styled a ton of ways for you to create your best looks!

Glam. Dress up this combo by choosing two seperate, statement pieces! Wear your sequined and embellished vest over your metallic high-waist shorts. Simply wear a simple tank under the vest, slip into your suede pumps, and keep the accessories to a minimal for a summer party outfit.

Camo. Get in on the trend and sport a long camo vest. Match this with a pair of khaki shorts for a safari-inspired outfit. Accessorize with combat boots and your aztec print backpack, and you're ready for an adventure!

Grunge. Take this pairing back two decades ago by choosing to wear a vintage-print vest with black, lace-ip shorts. Finish off this look with sheer tights and booties and you're ready for that much-awaited concert with friends!

Philippine Fashion Week 2013: SM Ladies' Fashion and Parisian Shoes and Bags

Philippine Fashion Week Holiday 2013 was kick-started with SM Ladies' Fashion and Parisian Shoes and Bags' show last Wednesday night, it started at 8:00 and ended at past 8:30 so it's a half an hour showcase of beautiful clothes and shoes!

But instead of showcasing the Holiday 2013 collection, SM Ladies' Fashion and Parisian Shoes and Bags decided to stay current and feature the Summer 2013 collection instead.  Presenting pieces from Studio S, Philosophy, NY Square, Weekender, Folio, SM Classics, and Coco Cabana, SM Ladies' Fashion sets to provide us women with the chicest options to suit a variety of lifestyles. Here are some photos from the runway showing the looks I loved:

I love that the collection was styled so well and everything is wearable. You may not be able to see the shoes that clearly in the photos but they all polished the looks nicely. All shoes are from Parisian Shoes and Bags and they came up with two new collections: Mod and Music Fest.

When it comes to summer looks, there are two pieces that are always synonymous to the season—sunglasses and dresses! Wear both together and you instantly have an outfit that will brighten up any day. Although the combination may seem simple, there are tons of ways you can dress it up! Just take a look at  these  for an idea of how you can come up with looks for yourself.

Edge out a pretty peplum dress with some polarized lenses! Make your look even cuter by matching colors and hues. This look is perfect for a fun Saturdate with your girlfriends.

Look laid-back in a flowy summer dress paired with cat eye sunnies! Fashion forward and oh-so feminine, all in one perfect outfit.

Rock out a white lace dress with a classic pair of aviators! This look is timeless and versatile for any occassion. Add some metallic bling and you're set for a formal affair!
